Cowichan Valley based Genevieve Charbonneau is a prolific singer-songwriter whose homesteading experiences have provided her with ample material for songs. Her music is rooted in folk and old-time country and is at once timely and timeless. She incorporates bluegrass rhythms, traditional folk, Americana and pop into her style. As a theatre major, trained dancer and long-time member of the Balkan Babes , she is an experienced singer and performer, bringing a lively stage presence and energy to the stage. In January 2014 Genevieve went into the studio with Marc Atkinson on Hornby Island to record her first full length album “Updraft”. She performs predominately with her band “Genevieve and the Wild Sundays“, a quartet of women who add instrumentation and harmony to Genevieve’s original songs. (see below)

Note from a recent show attendee:
“a great show- like usual my body couldn’t decide how to react to the sound of your music: sprinkle water from my eyes (cry), from my armpits (sweat) …or just send tingles down my spine and break out in goose bumps …Think I did it all. Honestly, this is a good music review – a full body experience!” — Ilse Sarady
TWISTED VINE STRING BAND
Original roots and old-time music from the heart of the farm. The band consists of Genevieve (vocals, guitar), Zane Parker (claw-hammer banjo, vocals), Zena Green (upright bass) and hopefully Daniel Green once he works up his mandolin chops!! This is keeping it in the family! Proximity allows for ample rehearsal time and a comfort and familiarity unique to family bands.
